Set Project Tempo and Enable Metronome
Open your DAW, start a blank project, and set the global tempo to 90 BPM for a standard hip-hop/lo-fi feel (or 120 BPM for pop). Enable the visual and audible metronome click so you have an accurate reference grid. Set the project cycle/loop length to exactly 4 bars.

Place the Snare on Beats 2 and 4
Load a standard snare or clap sample into your drum sequencer or MIDI track. Place a snare hit directly on beat 2 and beat 4 of every bar across the 4-bar loop. This establishes the backbeat foundation that anchors your entire rhythm.

Program the Kick Drum Pattern
Select a solid kick drum sample within the same kit. Place kick notes on beat 1 of each bar, then experiment with placing secondary kicks on beat 3 and the off-beat 'and' of beat 3. Ensure the kick does not directly clash or overlap identically with every snare hit.

Layer Continuous 8th-Note Closed Hi-Hats
Select a closed hi-hat sample and draw MIDI notes on every 8th note grid division (1, &, 2, &, 3, &, 4, &) for all 4 bars. Slightly lower the velocity on every alternate hit (& beats) to give the pattern a natural human groove instead of a robotic pulse.

Add a Simple 4-Bar Bassline
Open a sub-bass or synth bass virtual instrument track. Play or draw root notes that match the rhythm of your kick drum, keeping notes in the low pitch register (between C1 and C3). Keep note lengths clean so they stop before the next note starts, avoiding muddy overlap.

Balance Levels and Export Your Loop
